SAID SHE HAD FLU



So people around were in the know about Mrs.Hoi’s illness. They came to see her in crowds. And then they began making guesses about her disease and how to get her well again.
‘ It must be sunstroke.’
‘ No, no, it’s impossible !’
‘ Is’t it flu ? I’ve made offerings.’
‘ Nonsense ! What a fool you are ! It’s typhoid fever, I say. You’ve done it wrong. It’s typhoid fever. Get her to town so people could cure her.’
‘ Typhoid ! you’ve kidding ! It’s serious; serious cold, I say. It goes direct to her stomach, you know, and she has the horrors !’
‘ Let me have a word, sir. It’s nuts to rush her to hospital, that’s so damn stupid. Only goodness knows how she won’t become a wandering spirit !’
